What Exactly Are Porcelain Veneers?
You might have heard the term “veneer” before. It’s a thin shell made of resin (or ceramic) that envelopes your teeth, improving their color, positioning, and appearance. We bond veneers directly to the tooth’s front surface — it’s an especially viable option for upper and lower front teeth.
Porcelain is the priciest option when it comes to veneers, but the extra cost is a result of the material’s high durability, resistance staining, and its bright sheen which replicates your natural, healthy tooth enamel.
You Have Many Veneer Options

With a consultation with our Mission Viejo dentist, we can discuss your preferences together and choose the best option to suit your needs.
The Veneer Process
Dental veneers are made up of 3 steps:
Diagnosis (planning): We visit with you and discuss your goals. We guide you through your options to help you make the most informed choice. Upon decision (type and material of veneer), we’ll take X-rays and impressions.
Preparation: We’ll have to remove about half a millimeter of enamel from each targeted tooth. It’s a necessary step to make room for the veneer. But we always practice this step in the most conservative way possible. The last part of the second step is to take a mold of your teeth. We send that to a lab for fabrication. This takes 2-4 weeks.
Bonding: We’ll bond your custom-made veneers to your natural teeth. We’ll trim and shape your veneers to make a snug fit. Follow-up visits are a must, where we’ll check veneer placement, ensuring optimum tooth and gum response.
